Deputy Manager

About the Role

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Deputy Manager to join our team at Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home.

This is a key leadership role, combining hands‑on care, staff supervision, and day‑to‑day operational support, ensuring our residents receive kind, safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care at all times.

You will lead by example, support the care team, and help maintain a warm, well‑run home where residents feel respected, comfortable, and valued.

Key Responsibilities

·       Supporting the Registered Manager and Group Clinical Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the home

·       Leading, supervising, and supporting care staff to deliver high standards of care

·       Ensuring care is person‑centred, safe, and compliant with regulatory requirements

·       Supporting care planning, risk assessments, and accurate record‑keeping

·       Acting as a role model for best practice and professional standards

·       Supporting staff induction, training, and development

·       Assisting with audits, quality assurance, and maintaining a positive CQC culture

·       Providing hands‑on care when needed and responding to residents’ needs promptly

·       Deputising for the Registered Manager as required

Working Pattern

This is a 42.5-hour per week position designed to provide both operational leadership and visible clinical support within the home.

The successful candidate will typically work:

·       2 office-based management days per week, focusing on leadership responsibilities, staff supervision, quality assurance, audits, care reviews, compliance, meetings, and operational management.

·       2 clinical shifts per week, working alongside the nursing and care teams to provide hands-on clinical leadership, support residents, mentor staff, and maintain high standards of nursing practice.

This blended approach ensures our Deputy Manager remains closely connected to residents, staff, and the day-to-day delivery of care while also supporting the effective management of the home.

What Our Residents Value Most

Our residents are older adults who live at Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home as their home. They value leaders and care staff who:

·       Treat them with dignity, patience, and genuine respect

·       Take time to listen, talk, and understand them, not just complete tasks

·       Provide calm reassurance and consistency

·       Respect their independence, routines, and personal choices

·       Lead staff who are kind, attentive, and unhurried

·       Help create a warm, friendly atmosphere where they feel safe and at ease

·       Experience working within a nursing home, care home, or similar health and social care setting.

·       Strong knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, medication management, and CQC requirements.

·       Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.

·       Ability to inspire, motivate, and support teams to deliver exceptional care.

·       Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

·       Commitment to person-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
