The countdown is on to this year’s Saint Cecilia’s Care Awards, taking place on Friday 28th November at Scarborough Spa – and we are absolutely thrilled to reveal our very special guest for the evening… BBC Look North’s Amy Garcia! 🎉
A familiar face on TV's across Yorkshire and the North East, Amy has reported on some of the biggest stories of recent years – from the Covid pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis – and has even covered four General Elections. Whether she’s interviewing politicians, celebrities, or everyday Yorkshire folk, Amy is passionate about shining a light on the people who make our region so special.
And if you think reporting the news is all Amy does, think again! She’s known for saying “yes” to just about any challenge thrown her way. From crab fishing on the North Sea and working as a dairy farmhand, to abseiling 120 feet down a building and even being strapped to a plane – she’s done it all, often in aid of fantastic causes like Children in Need, Sport Relief and MND research.
Amy has also taken on epic physical challenges, including cycling 250 miles on a tandem across Yorkshire, dragging the iconic Look North sofa 150 miles through snowstorms, running the Leeds Rob Burrow marathon, and even learning the cha cha cha for the Burrow Strictly Ball at Blackpool Ballroom.
We are beyond delighted to welcome Amy to join us in celebrating the amazing people who make a difference every single day across the Saint Cecilia's Care Group. With her warmth, humour and energy, she’s the perfect guest to help us shine a spotlight on our inspiring award winners.
Now in their third year, the Saint Cecilia’s Care Awards shine a spotlight on excellence across 8 inspiring categories, celebrating the very best of our incredible team.
