Residents, NHS staff, care workers and members of the wider community are warmly invited to come together for a special Covid Reflection Service on Sunday 8th March at 2pm at St Mark’s Church.
The service forms part of National Covid Reflection Day, a day dedicated to remembering those who lost their lives during the pandemic and recognising the extraordinary efforts of those who cared for others during that time. The gathering will provide a meaningful opportunity for remembrance, reflection and hope.
A Moment for the Community to Come Together
The service has been organised with the support of local partners, including Saint Cecilia's Care Group and G Roberts Independent Family Funeral Directors. It aims to offer a calm and supportive space where individuals and families can remember loved ones, acknowledge the challenges faced by frontline workers and find comfort in shared experiences.
The event is open to everyone in the community, regardless of faith or background.
Reflecting on the Impact of the Pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic left a lasting impact on communities across the UK, particularly within health and social care. Many families experienced loss, while NHS teams, care workers, funeral directors and community organisations worked tirelessly to support people through an incredibly difficult time.
Speaking about the upcoming service, Mike Padgham, Chairman of Saint Cecilia's Care Group, said:
“Covid had a profound impact on so many families in our community, and particularly within health and social care. This service offers a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and remember those we lost, while also recognising the incredible resilience and compassion shown by NHS staff, care workers and the wider community. We hope people will join us for this important moment of reflection and hope.”
Honouring Collective Effort
Throughout the pandemic, local care providers, funeral directors, NHS teams and community organisations played a vital role in supporting people across the community during an unprecedented period.
The Covid Reflection Service will acknowledge that collective effort while providing a space where people can quietly remember loved ones and reflect on the strength shown by the community.
Everyone Welcome
The service will take place on Sunday 8th March at 2pm at St Mark’s Church.
All are welcome to attend and no booking is required.
It promises to be a thoughtful and respectful moment for the community to come together, remember those who were lost, and look ahead with hope.
