Saint Cecilia's well-established day care service in Eastfield is preparing to move to a new location this summer, in a step designed to enhance activities, improve accessibility, and expand future opportunities for older people and those living with dementia in the local community.
The Lounge Day Care Service will relocate from it's home in Eastfield, to Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home on Filey Road at the end of June, marking a positive development in the ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a more flexible and community-focused environment.
The move is scheduled for Tuesday 30 June, with the existing day care team transferring across to the new setting. This ensures continuity of care, with familiar staff remaining in place to support service users through the transition.
Enhanced experience and expanded opportunities
The relocation is expected to bring a range of benefits for people who attend the service. These include improved access to community-based activities and outings, a more central and accessible location, and the return of freshly prepared, chef-cooked meals.
Looking ahead, there are also ambitions to develop the service further, with plans to explore the introduction of a seven-day-a-week provision in the future.
Leadership perspective
Aaron Padgham, Managing Director at Saint Cecilia’s, said the move represents an important step forward in enhancing the overall experience for service users.
“This move is all about creating the best possible experience for the people who use The Lounge. By relocating to Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home, we will be able to offer greater flexibility, more opportunities for engagement and activities, and an enhanced environment for both clients and families.
“Importantly, the familiar and dedicated team that people know and trust will remain in place, helping to ensure a smooth transition and continued high-quality support.”
Service continuity within a new setting
From 30th June, The Lounge will be based at Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home, 19 Filey Road, Scarborough, YO11 2SE.
Although the day care service will operate from within the nursing home, it will continue to function as a fully independent service. It will retain its own dedicated team, tailored activity programme, and clear focus on day care provision for older people and those living with dementia.
The relocation reflects a continued commitment to strengthening local care services while ensuring that individuals and families benefit from a supportive, engaging, and well-connected environment.
