Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home was pleased to welcome the team from Good Morning Britain this morning as part of an important national discussion on the future of social care in the UK.
With social care reform firmly on the national agenda, the visit provided an opportunity to shine a light on the challenges facing the sector and the real-life experiences of those who work in, rely on, and support care services every day.
During the broadcast, Chika, one of Saint Cecilia’s dedicated Team Leaders, shared her insights into delivering high-quality care and the realities facing frontline care professionals. Caroline, whose family member is a resident at the home, also spoke candidly about her experiences and the vital role care services play in supporting families.
Saint Cecilia’s Chairman, Mike Padgham, highlighted the growing pressures affecting the care sector, including increasing operational costs, workforce challenges, and the significant financial burden many families face when arranging care for their loved ones. He reinforced the need for meaningful, long-term reform that recognises the essential role social care plays in communities across the country.
Social care impacts millions of people throughout the UK, yet the sector continues to face significant challenges. By sharing the voices and experiences of care professionals, residents’ families, and care providers, Saint Cecilia’s hopes to contribute to the ongoing conversation and help drive awareness of the need for lasting change.
