Families across Scarborough who are caring for loved ones living with dementia, or planning ahead for future care needs, are being invited to access free, expert support at an upcoming community drop-in session.

Hosted by Saint Cecilia's Care Group, the event will take place on Thursday 16th April at YMCA Scarborough. The session has been designed to offer practical advice, reassurance, and guidance in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Dementia can present many challenges, not only for those diagnosed but also for their families and carers. Understanding the condition, knowing what support is available, and making decisions about care can often feel overwhelming. This drop-in session aims to make those conversations easier by connecting people with experienced professionals who understand the journey.

Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly with members of the Saint Cecilia’s team about a range of important topics, including dementia care options, accessing financial support, and arranging respite care in the Scarborough area. Whether someone is just beginning to explore care options or is already supporting a loved one, the session is open to anyone seeking advice or simply wanting to learn more.

Aaron Padgham, Managing Director of Saint Cecilia’s Care Group, said:
“Dementia can be overwhelming, not just for those living with the condition but for their families too. We know how important it is for people to have access to clear, compassionate advice when they need it most. This session is about being there for the community and helping people feel more confident about the support available to them.”

One of the key benefits of the session is its informal nature. There is no need to book an appointment, and attendees are welcome to drop in at a time that suits them. This flexibility allows people to ask questions at their own pace and discuss their individual circumstances in a supportive environment.

Saint Cecilia’s Care Group has built a strong reputation over the past 35 years for delivering high-quality, person-centred care across Scarborough, Whitby, and Ryedale. With specialist expertise in dementia care and a commitment to supporting families as well as residents, the organisation continues to play a vital role in the local community.

Events like this drop-in session reflect that commitment—ensuring that people have access to the right information, guidance, and support when they need it most.
